WebP to PNG Conversion for Shopify Store Images
By Convert Any Image Editorial Team ·
A WebP asset can be efficient on the web, while a store workflow, designer or supplier may specifically need a PNG copy to review or upload.

Decide whether you need PNG
Create a PNG when the receiving workflow specifically requires it, when you need to preserve an existing transparent background, or when a graphic needs clean edges. Keep the WebP source as a separate file.
Shopify store requirements and app workflows can differ, so check the actual destination before converting a large set of product images.
Convert a WebP delivery copy
Add the WebP image to the local converter, choose PNG and download the resulting copy. Open the PNG on a coloured background if transparency matters; that makes it easier to see whether the source already included transparent areas.
Format conversion can preserve existing transparency in a compatible source and output path. It does not remove an opaque product background or create a cutout by itself.
Prepare the store image deliberately
Inspect the PNG at the dimensions where it will be used, then compress a separate copy only if file weight needs attention. Keep the source and final delivery image clearly named so product assets do not become confused.
For a JPEG delivery requirement, use the companion WebP-to-JPG workflow instead and remember that JPG cannot retain transparent areas.
