How to Remove EXIF Data from Photos on Any Device

Know what a photo can carry

A smartphone or camera may save information beside the image pixels, including the device model, capture time, orientation and sometimes GPS coordinates. The fields differ by camera, app and export history, so an image may contain only some of them.

Use the metadata preview to see the GPS, camera and date fields the browser can read from a supported file. It does not invent missing information or diagnose every possible metadata block.

Create a separate local copy

Keep the original photo in your archive, then use the local tool to create a new JPG, PNG or WebP copy from its visible pixels. For supported files, you can remove EXIF data instantly without an upload step.

The result is a new delivery file. Open it and use the before-and-after panel to confirm that source EXIF fields were not copied into the generated version.

Choose the copy for its destination

JPG is generally practical for photographs, PNG is useful when transparency matters, and WebP can suit modern web delivery. Select the format the recipient can open instead of treating metadata removal as a reason to replace the original.

For regulated or forensic workflows, verify the final file with the approved process for that situation.
